The Tenso project 14-18 : from poetry to music brings alive poems from 1914-1918, one of the most turbulent periods in European history, in new choral music. Together with European literature lovers all over Europe, we will bring to light known and unknown poems and other texts from that period, with special attention to texts originating from the Balkan and Eastern Europe. Young and established composers are commissioned to write new music for chamber choir, based on these texts. The project will result in a publication (internet and book) with poems, translation, recordings and scores, and a series of concerts and festivals all over Europe where the music will be performed.
Tenso Network Europe is happy to announce that the EU has selected the project proposal Tenso 14-18 from poetry to music to receive a grant for a multi-annual cooperation project from the EU Culture programme. The project runs from 2014 to 2018 and involves 13 partners from 10 European countries; Amsterdam-based Cappella Amsterdam is the coordinator of the project.
