The TENSO Europe Chamber Choir is an initiative founded by the European professional
choir network TENSO. The project aims to bring together young professional singers
from all over Europe (selected by audition) for an intensive summer course to prepare
a concert programme under the leadership of world renowned conductor Kaspars
Putniņš with the help of a professional team, providing valuable experience as part
of a professional vocal ensemble. This year’s edition of the TENSO Europe Chamber
Choir took place at the Jeunesses Musicales International Music Centre in the village
of Grožnjan (Croatia). In August they prepared their first concert tour, which will take
them to Slovenia, Belgium and the Netherlands, as well as Croatia. This year, the choir
has brought together 24 singers of 11 nationalities, aged between 18 and 34.
The diverse and demanding programme also includes a piece by the young Romanian
composer Sebastian Androne. ‘Fearful Darkness’ was written within the scope of
Tenso’s project 14-18: From Poetry to Music.
