17-18 May 2013
The first Tenso Days in Mechelen were held in May 2013, organized by Festival van Vlaanderen / Mechelen hoort stemmen. This was the start of an ongoing collaboration, where Tenso Days will take place annually in Mechelen in years to come in the framework of the international festival for vocal art Mechelen hoort Stemmen.
This year three Tenso choirs attended the event and participated in different activities and performances: the Eric Ericsons Kammarkör under Fredrik Malmberg, Cappella Amsterdam under Daniel Reuss and Cor de Cambra del Palau de la Música Catalana under Josep Vila. They gave their own unique performances with contemporary music as the basis of their programmes.
The Eric Ericsons Kammarkör was also the performing choir in the final round of the Tenso Young Composers Workshop, which led to a commission for new work for winner Eugene Birman (LV/USA). More information, pictures, recordings…
All three choirs were involved in a workshop by guest composer Joachim Brackx, where they proposed three different visions on a world premiere of Cada Canción / nihil est toto. Listen to the three performances:
- Joachim Brackx – Cappella Amsterdam cond Daniel Reuss
- Joachim Brackx – Cor de Cambra cond Josep Vila
- Joachim Brackx – Eric Ericsons Kammarkör cond Fredrik Malmberg
