Involving children in music projects can take many shapes. We will investigate how choirs can work with children on many different levels, producing high-quality projects that inspire all participants.
We will look at benchmark projects developed by
- Casa da Música (PT)
- The Sixteen (UK)
- RIAS Kammerchor (DE)
- Palau de la Música (CAT)
- BBC 10 pieces (UK)
- Kipina (FI)
and more, and discuss these with their creators and producers. A list of good examples can be found here.
The discussion can move in many directions, but will certainly touch on:
- developing projects as an ensemble ↔ working within a larger organization (concert hall, music school)
- creating new projects ↔ connecting to existing educational tools
- producing a one-time event ↔ investing in a sustainable relationship
- performance (passive audience) ↔ interactive (active participants)
- projects led by individual musicians ↔ working as a choir
- involving other disciplines (art, dance) ↔ focusing on music
